Professor Dobbs has been Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Provost at the University of Roehampton since May 2012. Previously she held senior roles at Northumbria University and at Newcastle City Council.
Professor Dobbs has extensive experience of building strategic relationships with local authorities, higher education colleges and cultural organisations. She has developed a number of innovative partnerships with chambers of commerce and worked directly with small and mid-sized enterprises. She is chair of London Higher’s HE Leadership Project Advisory Group and she was Vice-Chair of the Northumberland Democracy Commission. She was also a senior member of the North East’s Regional Development Agency’s Economic Advisory Panel.
Much of her work in public policy, regeneration and social inclusion in disadvantaged communities across the UK and in Europe has focused on raising educational aspirations and widening educational participation. It has also involved working closely with a number of external bodies and agencies, including local authorities, the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG), the Home Office and the European Commission.
